Various job opportunities at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital – External advert 2023

Jinja Regional Referral Hospital is implementing the Government to Government (G2G) mechanism which is USAID initiative to transition delivery of services and technical assistance to local partners including host Government entities. The G2G initiative is also part of efforts to support local ownership and enhance the sustainability of results. The award under this mechanism focuses on HIV service delivery and health systems strengthening aimed at implementing the concept of Regional Referral Hospital as centers of excellence.

The hospital, invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the following positions that exist in the hospital under the Project to be submitted to the address below not later than Friday 10th November 2023 at 5:00pm

1 Post: Radiographer  – 1 Post
Reference HRM 005/2023 JRRH
Reports To Senior Radiographer
Duration of Contract One year contract, renewable
Qualification Must have a Diploma in Radiography from a recognized Institution.
Other Requirements: Should have good communication, interpersonal and team building skills
Duties and Responsibilities

a) Receive patients and analyse their X-ray requests.

b) Prepare X-ray equipment according to requests.

c) Liaise with Ward management in the preparation of patients for X-rays.

d) Take X-ray pictures, process X-ray films and prepare reports for the Doctor or Clinical Officer.

e) Maintain X-ray equipment.

f) Promote the observance of the professional Codes of Conduct and Ethics.

g) Manage and account for allocated resources.

h) Prepare and submit reports.

i) Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

2 Post: Assistant Anaesthetic Officer  – 1 Post

Reports To Anaesthetic Officer
Duration of Contract One year contract, renewable
Qualification a) Must be a Clinical Officer or Registered Nurse/Midwife

b) Must have a Diploma in Anaesthesia or its equivalent

c) Must be registered and gazetted by AHPC, with a valid practising license

Duties and Responsibilities

a) Planning and budgeting for Anaesthetic activities in the hospital

b) Prepare patients for anaesthesia and administering it

c) Provide pre-and post-operative care to patients

d) Providing resuscitation services in case of emergency and disaster situations

e) Maintain anesthetictic operational equipment and ensuring their functionality

f) Requisitioning and accounting for anaesthetic materials and sundries

g) Supervising and appraising staff

h) Adhering to professional service code of conduct and ethics

3 Post: Medical Laboratory Technician – 1 Post

Reports To Senior Medical Laboratory Technician
Duration of Contract One year contract, renewable
Qualification Must have a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Other Requirements: Should have good communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
Duties and

Responsibilities:

a) Liaise with ward managers in the preparation of patients for laboratory tests.

b) Participate in proper collection, handling and transportation of specimens to the laboratory.

c) Carry out laboratory analysis, interpret results and submit reports to Clinicians.

d) Requisition for equipment and other supplies.

e) Ensure that equipment is functional and well maintained.

f) Ensure safety measures against hazards.

g) Participate in safety assurance to laboratories.

h) Participate in research.

i) Manage and account for allocated resources.

j) Adhere to the Professional Codes of Conduct and Ethics.

k) Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

4 Post Nutrition Health Worker – 1 Post

Reports To Dietician
Duration of Contract One year Contract, renewable
Qualification ·       Minimum of  Uganda certificate of Education(UCE) with credit in English

·       Knowledge of the local language of the area is an added advantage

Duties And Responsibilities ·       Take anthropometric measurements and check for oedema at key contact points and during OTC clinic days

·       Conduct health education sessions on infant, young child and adolescent nutrition at different contact points

·       Link patients who need nutrition care and support to Nutrition unit.

·       Manage and account for the allocated resources (Nutrition equipment and supplies).

·       Participate in routine nutrition data collection

·       Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

5  Post Hub Rider – 1 Post
Reference HRM 002/2023 JRRH
Reports To Hub Coordinator
Duration of Contract One year Contract, renewable
Qualification ·       Should have an Ordinary Level Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with credit in English.

·       Possession of a valid riding permit at the time of recruitment is mandatory.

·       Experience in motorcycle riding, and knowledge of motorcycle maintenance.

·       Good knowledge of road Safety and traffic regulations.

·       The person should possess good knowledge and skills for proper handling and transportation of infectious and hazardous substances.

·       Previous experience with PEPFAR funded programs.

Duties and Responsibilities ·       Support transportation of laboratory specimens and test results for Viral Load, EID, TB GeneXpert, CD4, CBC, Chemistry and histopathology tests, including samples/test results for COVID-19 and other outbreak investigations, from/to health facilities served by the hubs, within the recommended specimen age and defined Turn Around Time (TAT).

·       Support electronic tracking of Laboratory samples and test results from lower health facilities through the hubs, using a mobile tracking APP.

·       Maintain proper records for motorcycle mileage, and submit monthly fuel accountabilities through the hub coordinator.

·       Ensure regular maintenance of the Laboratory hub motorcycle, in liaison with local service providers (garages), and keep records of motorcycle maintenance.

·       Any other duties assigned from time to time.

6 Post: Linkage Facilitator – 4 Posts

Reports Counsellor
Duration of Contract One year Contract, renewable
Qualifications: ·       Should have minimum of O’Level

·       Knowledge of the local language of the area

·       Certificate in counselling is an added advantage

Duties and Responsibilities: ·       Create awareness at health facilities through health talks, promote positive health practices and ensure completeness and track community referrals.

·       Conduct follow-up of missed appointments and lost clients through phone or physical contact follow-ups. Ensure reports are completed on daily basis

·       Provide health education, counselling and follow up mother-baby pairs who have missed their appointments PMTCT/EID. The Linkage facilitator will work with the health facility in charge and e-MTCT focal persons to identify HIV positive women and men who have passed through the PMTCT/ART programme.

·       Provide individual and group counselling as well as sharing life experiences with clients to support adherence.

·       Operate at mother baby care points to increase uptake, sustainability and promote adherence to option B+ services through formal and informal interaction with newly enrolled mothers

·       Provide follow-on psychosocial support and counseling on e-MTCT services

·       Follow up clients who have missed their clinic appointment and lost clients

·       Enlist male partners to support their spouses who have enrolled on e-MTCT services and for them to test for HIV

·       Screening of Clients/Conduct Nutrition assessment at outpatient contact points (OPD, YCC, PNC, ANC, HIV, TB, MBCP)

·       Provide psychosocial support and adherence counselling for children and adults with HIV

·       Actively walk clients from one service point to another within the health facility.

·       Link clients and caregivers to other service organizations for community-based care and support services using referral forms & registers

·       Participate in retrieving client files before the clinic and filing them back after the clinic

·       Support in the filling of appointment books, generate search list and make phone calls for Lost to Follow Up (LTFU clients).

·       Keep list of clients you are supposed to support and follow up including list of clients; counseled, assessed for malnutrition, linked, and attached. Compile monthly reports.

·       Any other duties assigned from time to time.

7 Post: YAPS – 1 Post

Qualification ·       Should have minimum of O’Level

·       Knowledge of the local language of the area

Duties and Responsibilities ·       Organize and conduct health education talks to AYP and care takers.

·       Provide pre-test counselling.

·       Physically escort AYP to HIV testing points.

·       Provide Information on available services and referral of AYP for HTS.

·       Identity adolescents and young people who need services and link them appropriately.

·       Support referral for services based on need.

·       Actively track HIV + AYP who fail to get linked to HFs.

·       Information giving and referral of AYP for HTS.

·       Facilitated referral and linkages of the identified positives in the community to the HFs for ART initiation.

·       Organize and conduct community sensitization meetings to create awareness.

·       Identity adolescents and young people who need services and link them appropriately.

·       Support referral for services based on need.
