Patients and caregivers at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital will soon have improved access to safe and clean drinking water following the official launch of the Safe Drinking Water Project, an initiative supported by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH).

The project was launched during a meeting attended by members of the hospital’s top management team and a delegation from Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, marking another milestone in strengthening healthcare services and improving patient welfare at the facility.

During the launch, hospital leadership expressed appreciation to Korea Foundation for International Healthcare for its continued support toward improving health service delivery at the hospital. The Safe Drinking Water Project is expected to significantly enhance the availability of clean drinking water for patients, attendants, and staff.

Access to safe drinking water is essential for infection prevention, patient comfort, and overall health outcomes. Through this initiative, the hospital will install and operationalize systems that ensure a reliable supply of water.

Speaking during the launch, members of the visiting delegation reaffirmed Korea Foundation for International Healthcare’s commitment to supporting healthcare institutions in Uganda through sustainable health system strengthening initiatives. They emphasized that access to safe water in healthcare facilities is a critical component of quality patient-centered care.

Hospital management led by Dr. Mulowooza Michael, Head Public Health Department noted that the project aligns with ongoing efforts to improve the hospital environment and ensure that patients receive care in safe and dignified conditions. Once fully implemented, the Safe Drinking Water Project will benefit thousands of patients and caregivers who visit Jinja Regional Referral Hospital every year.

The partnership between Jinja Regional Referral Hospital and Korea Foundation for International Healthcare continues to contribute significantly to infrastructure development, capacity building, and the strengthening of health services at the hospital.

The Safe Drinking Water Project is expected to be implemented in phases, with installation and operationalization activities commencing immediately following the launch.
